Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold expected to surpass most foldable flagships with surprising upgrade

The successor to the Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold is scheduled to be officially unveiled on August 20 and launch exactly one week later. According to rumors, the foldable flagship will come in Sterling Grey and Smoky Green. Aside from the Google Tensor G5, only relatively few upgrades have been expected so far, as Google is reportedly using almost the same cameras as in the previous model.

According to the latest information from Android Headlines, Google is planning a few more detailed improvements. First and foremost, the housing is said to be IP68-certified, instead of just IPX8 like the Pixel 9 Pro Fold. This means that the smartphone is not only completely waterproof but also dustproof, which is an important improvement, especially for a foldable, as it prevents dust or sand particles from getting into the hinge. This is quite remarkable, as it would make the Pixel 10 Pro Fold one of the first foldables with IP68 certification.

By comparison, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 has IP48 certification, the Oppo Find X5 IPX9 and the Honor Magic V3 IPX8. Google is said to be completely redesigning the hinge by reducing the screen bezel on the hinge side, allowing for the installation of a slightly larger secondary display with a diagonal of 6.4 inches instead of 6.3 inches. Combined with the lower price, the Pixel 10 Pro Fold could be an interesting folding flagship, as rumors have indicated a price reduction of $200, which would bring the base model down to "only" $1,599.
