AMD has been pretty tight-lipped about the upcoming Threadripper CPUs, and since last November, not much has been talked about. While there is some new information about two SKUs in the lineup, it is quite barebones with the names, core counts, and TDPs mentioned. Spotted by the same leaker who previously shared that the Threadripper lineup will include 16 to 96 core CPUs, the new leak names two models, the 9975WX and the 9965WX.
Codenamed Shimada Peak, the Threadripper 9000 series CPUs are based on Zen 5 architecture and use the same SP6 socket. According to the new shipping manifest leak, the two SKUs, namely 9975WX and 9965WX will feature 32 cores and 24 cores respectively. They have the same 350W thermal design power (TDP) and that’s about all the information available. There are no clock speeds mentioned or cache numbers, but past leaks have suggested that there may be 3D V-cache variants of the upcoming Threadripper CPUs.
The leaked manifest from last November showed a 96-core/192-thread flagship processor, which was expected to be the Threadripper 9980X. It also had a 350W TDP, the same as the TDP of its predecessor, the Threadripper 7980X. The 96-core SKU seems to be the upper limit in terms of core count which could mean that the 9000 series will not include Zen 5c-based processors.
As mentioned earlier, AMD has not shared any information on the next Threadripper CPUs so it is unclear how many SKUs will be available and there is no release date as of yet.
