Steam: Offroad adventure goes free for the weekend

Expeditions: A MudRunner Game is a realistic off-road simulation where players take on the role of scientific explorers. Using specially equipped vehicles, they navigate challenging terrain, from arid deserts to rocky mountain passes. Deep mud, rushing rivers and steep slopes put their skills to the test, while advanced tools like drones and ground radar help uncover hidden locations.

The game prioritizes realistic driving physics, where factors like weight, tire pressure and terrain conditions directly affect vehicle handling. Strategy is key, as players must manage resources such as fuel, spare parts and equipment. Successful expeditions unlock new vehicles, improved gear and upgrades for the player's base. In co-op mode, up to three others can join in to tackle challenges together.

Expeditions: A MudRunner Game was released in March 2024 by Saber Interactive and Focus Entertainment. On Steam, only 56% of around 2,150 players have left a positive review. A similar trend appears on Metacritic, where critics awarded it a solid 77 Metascore, while players rated it just 5.5.

The main criticism is the lack of innovation compared to SnowRunner, which shares a similar concept and comes from the same developers.. Many players feel the game plays more like a SnowRunner DLC than a standalone title. Repetitive tasks and technical issues have also been common complaints.
