The Galaxy S25 continues to score with some tried and tested characteristics that are also present in the latest generation, as the compact Samsung smartphone sports a well-made, light and compact chassis.
Furthermore, the powerful hardware and commendable software support with regular updates and security patches are more reasons to grab the Galaxy S25.
Strong competition outlasts the Galaxy S25
However, a closer look at the Chinese competition in the form of the Vivo X200 Pro Mini or Xiaomi 15 shows that progress has been made in terms of battery technology over the past few years. Despite their similarly compact designs, both smartphones have long battery life, which makes the otherwise solid runtimes of the Galaxy S25 feel disappointing in comparison. The same applies to charging speeds, as Samsung still relies on outdated 15W wireless and 25W wired charging.
Old cameras hold the Galaxy S25 back
Furthermore, the Vivo X200 Pro Mini in particular illustrates that even compact smartphones can be equipped with a flagship main camera that takes excellent photos. This camera advantage compared to the Galaxy S25 is not very surprising, considering that Samsung has now used the exact same main sensor for four generations in a row. This stagnation is rather incomprehensible since these phones were once the top of its class.
