Minix is now offering a silent mini PC that is powered by a current Intel chipset. The computer supports M.2 SSDs and can be connected to multiple high-resolution monitors.
Minix is now offering a new and compact PC called the Z150-0dB that does not have an active fan and runs completely silent, which makes it suitable for media playback and other use cases. The mini PC is currently priced at $279 on Amazon. Shipping is handled by the online retail giant, but the seller is Minix itself.
The mini PC measures 4.8 x 4.7 x 1.8 inches, but it will be noticeably larger in practice due to the two large antennas that stick out and are required for proper wireless connections. The Z150-0dB supports WiFi at 2.4 and 5GHz, which is pretty common these days. Bluetooth is also supported. The computer is powered by an Intel N150 APU, which isn't an extremely powerful chipset, but the system could be suitable for media playback or other use cases such as web browsing and office applications. Despite the passive cooling, Minix claims that the processor does not throttle.
Furthermore, the silent Z150 can simultaneously run two 4K monitors with a refresh rate of 60Hz. It is equipped with 16GB DDR4 RAM and a 512GB PCIe 3.0 SSD. Both components should be upgradable. The singular Ethernet can hit up to 2.5 Gbit/s, and two USB 3.2 ports are available on the front. Last but not least, there's an additional USB Type-C port on the front that only supports data transfers, but no video output.

I have been active as a journalist for over 10 years, most of it in the field of technology. I worked for Tom’s Hardware and ComputerBase, among others, and have been working for Notebookcheck since 2017. My current focus is particularly on mini PCs and single-board computers such as the Raspberry Pi – so in other words, compact systems with a lot of potential. In addition, I have a soft spot for all kinds of wearables, especially smartwatches. My main profession is as a laboratory engineer, which is why neither scientific contexts nor the interpretation of complex measurements are foreign to me.

My fascination for technology goes back a long way to the Pentium II era. Modding, overclocking and treasuring computer hardware has since become an integral part of my life. As a student, I further developed a keen interest in mobile technologies that can make the stressful college life so much easier. After I fell in love with the creation of digital content while working in a marketing position, I now scour the web to bring you the most exciting topics in the world of tech. Outside the office, I’m particularly passionate about motorsports and mountain biking.
