Released in 2020 as a sequel to 2013’s Kickstarter success, Risk of Rain 2 is a roguelike that pits you against powerful enemies and humongous bosses. The game has received critical acclaim for being incredibly fun and super replayable, thanks to hand-crafted levels and multiple playable characters. If this sounds right up your alley, a Steam sale has now brought Risk of Rain 2 under $9 after a massive 67% discount.
Currently priced at just $8.2 down from $24.99, Risk of Rain 2 features a total of 16 bespoke environments where players face increasingly difficult enemies, including thrilling boss fights. While the end goal is to make it alive to and beat the final boss, Risk of Rain 2 allows players to unlock up to 16 different characters. The first two characters, Commando and Huntress, are available to players from the start, following which players clear levels, collect loot, and unlock more players as they game on.
Engaging and addictive gameplay loop
An addictive gameplay loop is the defining quality of any good roguelike. Risk of Rain 2 not only nails this through fun combat, but it also allows players to supercharge their characters. Players can combine as many different items as they want to make their characters as OP as they want. This scaling system also extends to enemies, as enemies also get stronger throughout your playthrough.
Finally, if you want even more to do, Risk of Rain 2 has also received post-launch DLCs in the Risk of Rain 2: Survivors of the Void and Risk of Rain 2: Seekers of the Storm. These two expansions, combined with the original game, are also discounted on Steam at just $24.72.
All in all, if you are a fan of roguelikes, Risk of Rain 2 is a must-play, especially now that you can get it for under $9.
