MSI has unveiled a limited edition of the Prestige 13 AI+ Evo at Computex. While technically identical to last year's ultrabook, its display lid now shows Katsushika Hokusai's artwork "The Great Wave off Kanagawa." This masterpiece, originally created as a color woodcut back in 1830, has been immortalized on the laptop by Japanese specialist Okadaya in a handcrafted process.
This process involves five steps, some of which are performed manually, which is why the Ukiyo-e Edition can only be produced in limited quantities. The ultrabook's specifications remain unchanged, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. The MSI Prestige 13 AI+ Evo sports the Intel Core Ultra 9 288V with four performance cores, four efficiency cores, boost clock speeds up to 5.1GHz and the fast Intel Arc 140V iGPU, which can handle less demanding games. It’s also equipped with 32GB LPDDR5x-8533 RAM and a PCIe 4.0 SSD.
The combination of a modern Intel processor and relatively large 75Wh battery should result in a long battery life. In our detailed review, the regular model variant lasted a respectable 13.4 hours in our WiFi websurfing test. Moreover, the 13.3-inch display relies on an OLED panel with 2880 x 1800 pixels, but the panel isn't particularly smooth or bright at 60Hz and up to 400 nits. The MSI Prestige 13 AI+ Evo also isn't exceptionally thin at 0.67 inches, but it weighs just 2.18 lbs and offers a 5MP webcam, two USB-C Thunderbolt 4 ports, one USB-A port, HDMI 2.1 as well as a microSD card reader.
Price and availability
MSI has yet to confirm when the Prestige 13 AI+ Ukiyo-e Edition (A2VM) will hit the market, and its price hasn’t been unveiled either. However, the partially handcrafted notebook is expected to be available in very limited quantities. For reference, the Core Ultra 7-equipped MSI Prestige 13 AI+ Evo currently retails for $1,349 on Amazon.
