Yesterday, Nvidia came out with two software-related announcements worthy of our attention. While many don't consider driver updates to be important, the version 566.14 GeForce Game Ready Driver package is definitely worthy of a closer look. In addition to providing day-one DLSS 3 with Frame Generation and Super Resolution (and more) support for the highly-anticipated (and many-times-delayed, in the first case) S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl and Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, the update also comes with several one-click optimal settings. The second piece of news involves the Nvidia app, which is finally out of beta, so it can be safely taken for a spin even by everyone.
Thanks to the new driver, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl (you can get the game guide by Sean M. Powell already on Amazon for $7.99 in Kindle format or $13.99 in paperback form) runs at 87 fps with everything maxed at 4K resolution on the GeForce RTX 4070 Super, exceeding 120 fps on the top-of-the-line GeForce RTX 4090. While GeForce RTX 4070 struggled at 30 fps with the previous driver (without DLSS 3 optimizations), it now jumps to a very comfortable 70 fps. When playing the game at 1080p resolution, even the GeForce RTX 4060 can cruise faster than 60 fps. The game's launch is set for November 20.
Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 receives DLSS 3 with Frame Generation and Super Resolution, as well as DLAA, ray-traced shadows, and Nvidia Reflex. This title is set to launch on November 19.
The six titles that receive one-click optimized settings with the new driver package are the following: Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, Delta Force, Dragon Age: The Veilguard, Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered, and Red Dead Redemption.
As usual, the driver package can be downloaded through the Nvidia app or directly from Nvidia's website. Since the driver release news piece no longer mentions GeForce Experience, we can already consider that app buried. While bringing together many features from GeForce Experience and RTX Experience, the Nvidia app sports a redesigned in-game overlay with easy access to gameplay recording tools, performance monitoring, image-enhancing filters, including RTX-exclusive AI filters, an optional login to redeem various rewards, and more.
