While Xiaomi may have launched the Redmi K80 and Redmi K80 Pro last year, the company is yet to debut its flagship model—the Redmi K80 Ultra. The K80 Ultra is likely months away from launch, but a new leak has now revealed some info about the Redmi flagship smartphone.
As shared by Digital Chat Station, the Redmi K80 Ultra is set to debut with a 6.8-inch 1.5K LTPS—almost definitely OLED—screen with equal bezels and a metal mid-frame. Like other devices in the Redmi K80 series, the Redmi K80 Ultra is touted to sport a circular camera housing at its rear upper left.
Under the hood of the Redmi K80 Ultra will be a MediaTek Dimensity 9400+. This flagship SoC is expected to launch shortly as an overclocked variant of the standard Dimensity 9400 and is also rumored to underpin Redmi's first gaming tablet. Keeping with current trends, the Redmi K80 Ultra is tipped to feature a high-capacity battery in the region of 7400 mAh. Charging wattage seems set for a decline, though, going from the 120 W wired charging on last year's Redmi K70 Ultra to a 100 W protocol.
While it's unknown when exactly the Redmi K80 Ultra will debut, July or August would be a safe bet considering the launch timeframes of previous entries. When it's finally unveiled, the phone is likely to remain exclusive to the Chinese market with the nameplate "Redmi K80 Extreme Edition".
