The Miyoo Flip was an awfully long time in the making. Details about the device were first made public almost a year ago. Even then, early leaks showed a working prototype with a similar OS experience to retail units that only started shipping last month.
As a result, it seems likely that Miyoo had been developing its RG35XX SP (curr. $76 on Amazon) rival for some time prior, presumably from sometime in 2023 onwards. By contrast, Anbernic released the RG35XX SP a mere two months after a leak first showcased the device.
While the Miyoo Flip took comparatively long to come to market, Joey's Retro Handhelds reports that a V2 model is already in development. Unfortunately, the YouTuber has not revealed what changes are in store for the Miyoo Flip V2. A likely list of desired changes would include an improved hinge and a brighter display, which have been referenced as shortcomings in several early reviews.
According to Joey's Retro Handhelds, Miyoo hopes to launch the Flip V2 next month. As the YouTuber emphasises in the video embedded below, the frequent delays to the original model's release suggest that February could be rather ambitious. No other details are known at this stage though, nor has Miyoo publicly confirmed that a new revision is on its way.
