The Huawei Mate XT was launched in September 2024 as the company’s first tri-fold smartphone. A new leak has surfaced online suggesting that the successor to the Mate XT will launch later this year. Additionally, the leak highlights the main upgrades of Huawei’s upcoming tri-fold smartphone.
According to tipster Digital Chat Station, the next-gen tri-fold phone may keep the same screen parameters as the Mate XT, meaning the size and resolution could remain unchanged, although improvements in areas such as durability are still possible.
One of the key upgrades to the next-gen phone will be its processor. The original Mate XT utilized the Kirin 9010 processor, while the Mate XT’s successor may use the Kirin 9020 chipset. The Kirin 9020 is a 12-core processor based on a 7nm process, and powers Huawei’s flagship Mate 70 lineup.
Another major upgrade to the upcoming tri-fold phone is expected to be its camera. However, the tipster did not disclose any specific camera details. The original Mate XT featured a triple rear camera setup comprising a 50MP primary sensor, a 12MP ultrawide, and a 12MP periscope telephoto lens.
The tipster claims that the Mate XT’s successor will launch in the second half of 2025. For now, Huawei has not confirmed any information regarding a new tri-fold phone. Therefore, the leak should be treated with caution.
