Baldur's Gate 3 most likely deserves all the accolades it got at The Game Awards in 2023, including the coveted Game of the Year title. If you're looking to play another game of that genre, Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous will be right up your alley. Developed by Owlcat Games (of the Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader fame), it was launched in 2021 as a sequel to 2018's Pathfinder: Kingmaker.
Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous is a computerized version of the Pathfinder tabletop game. It features 25 classes, 12 character races, and ten different companions that accompany you through your journey. Plus, it has some of the most elaborate difficulty settings found in any RPG. You can fine-tune numerous aspects like critical hits, enemy HP, party damage, and auto level up.
Initially, Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous might come off as extremely daunting to many. The game throws an Excel sheet worth of numbers at you, many of which don't make sense initially. But, if you're familiar with D&D, you'll fit right in. Your first play through can easily cross the hundred-hour mark if you're thorough. The game suffers from a unique problem in the sense that many deem it too long.
Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous also has turn-based combat, further allowing you to adjust your battle plan based on your foes. You might need external resources to determine character and ability synergies, but once it clicks, everything falls in place. Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous is 80% off on Steam, and some of its thirteen DLC packs have also received similar price cuts.
