Asus announces 3000W PSU that can power four RTX 5090s

Computex brings a lot of interesting hardware that often pushes tech to its limits and Asus had something to show off in that vein, a 3000W power supply. It is an ATX PSU that can power not two, not three, but four RTX 5090 GPUs at once. The company has also paid special attention to cooling to ensure optimal performance for much longer. This is part of a series that also includes a 2200W and a 1600W model. For now, pricing and availability are unclear. 

The Asus Pro WS 3000W Platinum PSU, as the name suggests, is a 3000W 80+ Platinum rated power supply that follows the latest connectivity and power efficiency standards. It is ATX 3.1 compatible and has four native 12V-2x6 connectors with gold-plated pins that can power four GPUs at once, include top of the line RTX 5090s. Of course, no gaming rig would benefit from having four GPUs which is why this PSU is targeted towards demanding AI workloads.   

The PCB is wrapped in a protective coating to prevent short-circuits from moisture or debris. There are heatsinks that have “twice the volume of standard designs” and a dual-ball bearing fan with a lifespan of 80,000 hours. The Pro WS 3000W Platinum PSU comes with etched cables that are said to operate at 50 degree C lower temperatures than the safety limit. On top of that, Asus covers the PSU under a 10-year warranty. 

As for the four RTX 5090 claim, the GPU is rated for a max load of 575W so four of them would pull up to 2300 to 2400W at full load. This would leave 600 to 700W for the other components which should be more than enough.

As mentioned earlier, Asus has not shared pricing or availability for the Pro WS 3000W Platinum PSU. This series also includes a 2200W and a 1600W PSU, both of which are also 80+ Platinum rated and ATX 3.1 compliant.
